The symptoms of the condition include pain in the tendon, pain after exercising, pain in the back of the heel, stiffness, thickness of the tendon, bone spur, and swelling. Achilles Tendinitis can be easily diagnosed using an X-ray or MRI scan.
There are some conditions that can put you at a higher risk of developing the conditions like having an extra gone growth and performing intense and long workout sessions that put too much stress on the tendon. At the Apollo Spectra, we use the surgery as a last resort. The condition is first treated using exercises, physical therapy, and resting. Next is the medications that might be steroidal or non-steroidal depending on the severity of the condition. If none of this works, surgery is preferred.
Also known as Osteoarthritis, it is one of the most common forms of arthritis. Unfortunately, there is no cure for the condition. However, there are methods to relieve pain and maintain activity. This includes exercise, change in lifestyle, medication, and physical therapy. Processes like Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, thermotherapy, and manual therapy have proven to very effective in the treatment of the condition. Surgery is not necessary but it might be the only option if the arthritis is hindering your day-to-day activities. However, it is only suggested if the joint is severely damaged and all other methods have proven to be ineffective. There are several options available depending on the severity of the damage including total joint replacement, Arthrodesis, and Osteotomy. The symptoms of the condition are mostly pain and difficulty in moving the joints. A person might also feel a little stiff in the morning. There might be a loss of muscle bulk. Joints will get warm and tender due to inflammation. In some cases, there might be a crackling or grating sound in the affected joint. The main cause of the Osteoarthritis is the inability of the body to repair joint tissue naturally. This can be the result of cartilage damage or a severe injury to the joint.
• Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
A disorder caused by the compression of the median nerve that travels through the wrist, the carpal tunnel syndrome cause pain, tingling, and numbness in the hand and the arm. The condition gets worse over time, so early diagnosis and treatment are very important. If the pressure on the nerve continues, it can lead to nerve damage and worse symptoms. Usually, there is numbness, pain, burning and tingling sensation in the affected area making him/her weak and clumsy in the hand. A patient might also get occasional shock-like sensations.
The risk factors for the condition include genetics, repetitive use of hands, especially wrists, pregnancy, and health conditions like diabetes, thyroid gland imbalance, and rheumatoid arthritis.
The treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome is a process. If it is diagnosed early; the symptoms can be relieved without surgery. This nonsurgical treatment might include wearing a brace or splint, taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, nerve gliding exercises, steroid injections and making some lifestyle changes. The activities that aggravate the symptoms must be stopped immediately. But in many cases, the nonsurgical treatment methods do not relieve the symptoms. Surgery becomes the only option to prevent irreversible damage. This can either be an endoscopic or an open surgery.
A gout is a form of arthritis that causes attacks of pain and soreness in the joints. It is the result of a condition called hyperuricemia caused due to the excess uric acid in the body. Gout can happen anytime without any warning. Many patients feel the sensation as if their big toe is on fire. The swelling and tenderness make even the lightest weight unbearable. There is an excruciating joint pain for the first 12 hours followed by discomfort for the following week. The affected joint will become hot sore, red, and inflamed and will have decreased immobility.
People who have a diet high on meat, sweet beverages, and alcohol are at a higher risk of developing the condition. Certain conditions like being overweight, high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney or heart diseases make you more vulnerable to gout.
Gout can be treated with medications. To stop attacks and prevent any future complication, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are prescribed.
