Spinal Fusion Surgery
This surgery is performed to join two or more vertebrae together in order to avoid any movement between them to prevent pain. Once the joining of the bones takes place, the movement gets reduced and the nearby nerves, ligaments, and muscles are saved from discomfort or damage. This surgery is generally conducted when all other techniques fail. It will help you feel better if you are suffering from;
- Degenerative disk disease – consists of a low-level chronic pain with more severe pain occurring at irregular intervals.
- Fractures or broken bones
- Scoliosis – This is a condition, where your spine curves abnormally towards one side
- Spinal Stenosis – It is a condition where the spinal canal becomes narrow
- Tumour
- Spondylolisthesis
- Spinal infections
Foraminotomy
This surgery is performed to rectify the tissues, which compresses the nerves present in the back. During the surgery, your surgeon at Apollo Spectra Bangalore will remove the bone, which is causing the compression. Sometimes, this surgery is followed up with a spinal fusion surgery as bone stability gets compromised.
Laminectomy
This is a widely used spinal surgery, mostly performed for people suffering from Spondylolisthesis and stenosis. During this surgery, the lamina of the vertebra is removed or trimmed to provide relief from the strain or the pressure. Just like in the above surgery, if spine instability is suspected, spinal fusion surgery is conducted to rectify the same.
Spinal disc replacement
This is one of the newer techniques to cure back pain. During this surgery, an artificial disc is used to replace it with the damaged disc. These discs are present between the vertebrae. You don’t require a spinal fusion surgery after this surgery.
Discectomy
This surgery is used to remove the damaged portion of a herniated disk in your spine.
