Urgent Care

Book Appointment

Should you go to the emergency department or an urgent care facility because of a cut on your finger or chest pain? It's tough to say. So we're making things simple for you by offering a clear description of where to go for the services you require.

What Exactly is Urgent Care?

Urgent care is a type of walk-in care provided in a medical facility other than an emergency department. Urgent care facilities generally handle injuries or diseases that cannot wait for your regular doctor but aren't serious enough for the emergency room. Urgent care facilities can treat minor injuries and diseases such as the flu, as well as do physical exams, take X-rays, and fix broken bones, among other things. Wait times at urgent care centers are substantially shorter than those at emergency rooms, and they are typically far less expensive.

What Embodies an Urgent situation?

An emergency condition, in general, has the potential to permanently harm or risk your life. For any medical emergency that looks to be life-threatening, dial 1066 immediately. The following are some instances of conditions that necessitate immediate medical attention:

  • A compound fracture occurs when a bone protrudes through the skin.
  • Seizures, convulsions, or loss of awareness
  • Gunshot wounds or deep knife wounds
  • An infant that is less than three months old has a fever.
  • Excessive, uncontrolled bleeding
  • Burns ranging from moderate to severe
  • Poisoning
  • Obstacles to Pregnancy
  • Serious damage to the head, neck, or back
  • Extensive abdominal pain
  • Severe chest pain or breathing difficulties
  • Symptoms of a heart attack include chest discomfort that lasts more than 2 minutes.
  • Stroke symptoms include loss of vision, abrupt numbness, weakness, slurred speech, and disorientation.
  • Suicidal or homicidal thoughts

What Constitutes an Urgent Medical Situation?

Urgent medical issues are those that are not emergencies but yet necessitate treatment within 24 hours. Here are several examples:

  • Accidents and slips
  • Cuts that do not involve much blood but may necessitate sutures
  • Breathing difficulties such as mild-to-moderate asthma
  • Diagnostic services such as X-rays and laboratory testing are available.
  • Redness and inflammation of the eyes
  • Fever or the flu
  • Minor bone fractures and finger or toe fractures
  • Moderate back pain
  • Sore throat or coughing fits
  • Infections and rashes on the skin
  • Strains and sprains
  • Infections of the urinary tract
  • Dehydration, vomiting, or diarrhea

What to expect?

Bring any needed forms that the physician may request, such as school physical forms and immigration physical forms.

If you were referred to Apollo by another doctor, bring any paperwork supplied by the referring clinician, such as a prescription from your primary care physician.

Do Urgent Care Clinics Provide IVs and Medication?

Because all urgent care facility employees are medical experts – either physicians or nurse practitioners – they can provide you with the greatest medical advice and options available. Items such as IVs and medicines may be included in some circumstances. This is determined on a case-by-case basis. If you require medicine, you will be given a prescription as well as more information. Furthermore, if you are dehydrated and require an IV, this will be explained to you, and a medical practitioner will begin the process.

Dial 1066 immediately if you have a medical emergency that seems to be life-threatening.

Should I go to an urgent care center or a doctor?

Always go to your nearest emergency department if you have a significant or life-threatening health problem. Visit an urgent care center if you have a sickness or injury that requires same-day or nighttime treatment but is not life-threatening.

Is it possible for Urgent Care to refuse to see you?

No urgent care or emergency room institution may refuse to treat a patient because he or she lacks insurance or is unable to pay for treatment. Healthcare facilities are required by law to treat all patients, regardless of financial status, race, religion, gender, handicap, age, or another status.
