Introduction

Avascular Necrosis (AVN) or Osteonecrosis is the destruction of bone tissues as a result of a lack of blood flow. AVN is a condition that worsens with time, limiting movement and eventually collapsing the afflicted joint. Young individuals between the ages of 20 and 45 are most commonly affected by AVN of the hip joint. AVN can affect the knee, shoulder, ankle, and other parts of the body.

Symptoms

Avascular Necrosis (AVN) symptoms include:

  • Swelling, pain, and stiffness in the afflicted joint
  • Walking, laying down, or placing weight on a joint might cause pain.
  • With the afflicted joint, there is limited mobility.
  • The inability to bend forward or even tie one's shoes
  • Walking with a limp

Causes of Avascular Necrosis (AVN)

Avascular Necrosis (AVN) has several causes, including:

  • Steroids are used.
  • Accident or traumatic injury
  • Obesity with a sedentary way of life
  • Excessive alcohol consumption and smoking
  • Idiopathic or Chemotherapy

How the procedure is performed at Apollo Spectra, Jaipur?

Avascular Necrosis of the Hip Joint Stages

  • Because AVN advances so quickly, it's critical to detect and treat it as soon as possible.
  • When proper therapy is obtained in the early stages of AVN, it can be reversed.
  • Significant bone fractures and cartilage loss render the joint non-functional in the advanced stages. Replacement surgery is required to replace the damaged joint at an advanced stage.
