How can you prevent it?

The most effective way to prevent sinus infections is to stay away from the substances that trigger them. Other ways that you can adopt are:

  • Washing your hands frequently
  • Staying away from sick people as they can transfer the infection causing virus
  • Eat healthy fruits and vegetables
  • Don’t smoke and stay away from people who smoke

What are the treatment options for sinus infections?

Your doctor will first ask you questions about your history of allergies and any medications you’re taking. They will try to find the cause of your problem by conducting a physical examination. Sinus infections are treated according to the severity of your case. Acute sinusitis can be treated by nasal saline spray, allergy medications, antibiotics, etc. Chronic sinusitis can be treated by intranasal steroid sprays, rinsing the nose with saline solutions, etc.
